Ever since she “stole” her dad’s Canon A1 at the age of 9, Roberta has been honing her skills in, and her love of, photography. She has an Honours in Fine Art from UCT, for which she was on the Dean’s Merit List, as well as a joint Honours in English and History of Art, for which she won two scholarships.
While tutoring in the History of Art department, she discovered her love of teaching and went on to complete a Post-graduate Certificate in Education, and became an art and English teacher at a private day school on the slopes of Table Mountain. Throughout her time studying and teaching, she was never far from her cameras and in early 2005, she decided to take the plunge into full-time professional photography.
She specialises in wedding photography but is equally adept at interiors, food, products and portraits. With her growing success in the industry, Roberta started receiving requests for her to offer one-on-one teaching as well as short workshops on photography – requests that she was more than happy to fulfil because of her dedication to teaching and her passion for photography.
Empowering people to document and comment on the world around them – whether that is the world of politics or the world of cupcakes and kindergartens – is something that Roberta finds awe inspiring.
