Why this course?

This course is endorsed by UCT’s African Institute of Financial Markets and Risk Management (AIFMRM).

In 2014, roughly 13% of South Africans were employed within the financial sector. That’s approximately 2 million out of 15.1 million working individuals (according to Stats SA). With this low percentage, there’s a high potential for growth within the industry.

Course overview

This 8 -week online short course will introduce you to the primary financial market landscape in South Africa. The introduction is aimed at helping you develop practical investment knowledge of these markets’ various participants, activities and instruments, as well as the legislation and regulatory bodies that govern the sector. You’ll complete this course with the ability to understand and interpret information from these financial markets, and make more informed investment choices when interacting with the financial instruments that trade on these markets.
