Robyn Allan, GetSmarter’s stalwart marketing and events manager, has been at the company since the beginning – she was one of the first three GetSmarter staff. She took a few minutes out of her crazy work schedule to share a bit about herself.
Robyn gets in to work around 7am so she can have a bit of quiet time before the rush of the day starts. She’s very proud of her marketing team. “We have a great team ethic and sense of responsibility. I love how proud and protective we are about our brand.” She believes that the small things make a difference in marketing, and that it’s important to keep reading new articles and opinions to keep things fresh.
When she isn’t coming up with innovative ways to promote new GetSmarter courses, Robyn loves to keep active by playing hockey, running and swimming. Spending time with family and friends is important. She also wishes she had more time for cooking, which she enjoys.
Robyn says her theme song is “Girls just wanna have fun” and that if she was a brand, she’d be Woolworths – personal, classic, genuine and unpretentious. Her super power (aside from being a marketing powerhouse) would be flying.
The marketing team is very happy that Robyn didn’t go with her childhood ambitions to be a dolphin wrangler or kindergarten teacher. According to them, Robyn has “the memory of an elephant”, always looks on the bright side of things, provides unconditional support, is completely dedicated to the company, keeps a firm control and oversight on everything and thinks at supersonic speed – “it’s amazing to watch the cogs spark”.
