The Hospitality and Tourism industry, both the flavour of the day in South Africa right now, are, without many people realising it, primarily about meeting the expectations that you have set for your customers through your marketing efforts, and ensuring that your customers are satisfied that their money has been well spent. As a business partner at CACCT (Chambers Accommodation and Tourism), over the recent festive season I received numerous phone calls and e-mails from unhappy guests regarding the service they received at various guest house establishments. In this article I would like to share some of the information as it was received, in order for you to see the kind of actions that leave guests feeling unsatisfied:

More and more people all over the world are turning to the Internet to
get information, make purchases and plan their travels. The Internet is
a major factor for the 2010 event in South Africa. The majority of football fans use MATCH as a starting point for their planned trip to FIFA World Cup events. The most significant benefit of signing up with this website is that establishments will be posted onto one of the world’s most visited websites: www.FIFA.com. In 2006 this website received more than 4 billion page views.

By Charl Theron Too often we hear people giving bland descriptions of the world around us. If you have landed at Cape Town International Airport, you have probably heard the pilot announcing that passengers will see a bay on their left hand side, a mountain in front of them and an island on the right hand side. By simply adding the word False in front of Bay, Table in front of Mountain and Robben in front of Island‚ the entire announcement becomes far more interesting. An example of a bland approach to describing wine is when someone says this tastes nice. This usually happens when someone does not know how to describe the wine or does not want to be rude.

By Charl Theron Production of Wine The production of wine begins with the grapes in the vineyard and
extends all the way to the bottle or similar container purchased by the
consumer. During this period the raw material and resulting wine is
exposed to a variety of different processes, conditions and managerial
influences, all of which can have a significant impact on the final
product. Unfortunately these influences are not always positive and can
sometimes result in unacceptable characteristics, which are often
described as wine faults or disorders in wine tasting. Some of the negative changes
will be as a result of chemical reactions in the wine while others can
be caused by certain microbes including unwanted yeasts and bacteria.
